Our Aim We give our puppies the best start in life we can, when we have a litter of puppies we make sure we fit our lifestyle around the puppies to ensure they receive 24 hour care and companionship. They are raised in the family home and once they are smart enough to climb out the whelping box they are moved into the dining room, the large secure pen grows with the puppies until it takes over the kitchen giving them plenty of room for a bed at one end and toilet area at the other near the outside doors. they spend short periods of time playing in the outdoor puppy pen always supervised and gradually built up to longer periods, this gives them the experience of meeting their older relatives and importantly getting used to hearing the sometimes scary everyday outdoor sounds that we take for granted. Our children spend their free time playing with the young puppies and we encourage friends and family of different ages to visit the puppies, even Gary our friendly postman, enjoys meeing them.
When the puppies are 5 weeks old they are introduced to the grooming table and to begin with a couple of minutes with a very soft brush building up the time as they grow, also Jane uses the hairdryer on her own hair near to the pen and the puppies soon come to explore what the new game is all about. We play the sounds scary CD at different intervals throughout the day to accustom them to everyday and new sounds, when they are playing and getting too rough they are corrected. At 6 weeks the puppies are introduced to wearing soft collars and later when the leads are attached they tug between themselves accustoming them to gentle restraint eventually they are only to pleased to wear a collar and lead. Beardies are very clever and soon want to be housetrained we begin this when they are ready to learn and soon find they are only too pleased to head for the door when they need to go. We take them out in the car regularly usually 2 at a time on short distances.
when you take home one of our puppies you don’t leave with just a sheet of paper and a wave, you will have a puppy pack tailored especially for you and your puppies worming record, pedigree and registration papers along with record of vets health check. Included in your file are pages of useful information on caring, feeding, training, socialising, grooming, whether this is your first or sixth Beardie all the information is there for you to read at your leisure, not condensed into 10 minutes the day you pick up your puppy.
We encourage new owners to visit their puppy when ever they can, if you've travelled far then an initial meeting and again when you pick your puppy up is fine but from 2 of our litters. The lucky puppy was staying close by and the new owners came to visit every week from 3 weeks until they took the puppy home which was nice. we like to hear all about the puppies when they leave us and if possible try to meet up with the puppies within the first year from our experience owners are only too pleased to update us on the puppies progress, the wonderful owners that choose to keep in touch will receive birthday cards and often a prezzie for the puppy.
Ending note
Our first litter is as important as the next we aim never to become complacent about breeding we are proud of our puppies and their owners and thank them all for giving our babies such loving homes see our feedback page for information, and finally thank you for taking time to read this.
